About the event
July 26, 2023 (Toronto, ON) - The only Diamond-selling Dancehall/Reggae artist in music history, Shaggy, and popular frontman Kes from the versatile Caribbean Soca group, Kes the Band, will visit Saldenah Mas Camp on Thursday July 27th, 2023 located at 280 Consumers Road, Unit 344 at 5 PM and meet with the Festival Management Committee Board Members and Executive Team.
A pioneering Reggae/Dancehall icon, Shaggy has received two Grammy Awards and is among the top 3 streamed Reggae artists of all time on Spotify (along with Bob Marley and Sean Paul). He has amassed over 800 million streams across his catalog and sold more than 40 million albums.
Kes the Band parlayed their success in Trinidad and Tobago into international acclaim with a broad musical palette that combines elements of Reggae, Afro-beat, Dancehall, Calypso, Rock, Hip-Hop and Pop. With classic Soca hits such as “Wotless,” “Hello” and “Savannah Grass,” Kes the Band has sealed their position as leaders in the genre and have been featured in the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
With Toronto Caribbean Carnival’s Grand Parade less than two weeks away, on Saturday August 5th, the timing is perfect for this superstar duo to perform their feel-good anthem “Mood” during Toronto’s Carnival season. Kes is in Toronto for the IzWe concert which will be held at the Markham Fair Grounds on Saturday July 29th.
