Louis Saldenah has followed in the footsteps of his father, the legendary Harold Saldenah, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most renowned Carnival Bandleaders. In 1977, Louis Saldenah produced his first band “Shangri-la,” which went on to win the coveted Band of the Year honour. Saldenah has participated in the annual Toronto Caribbean Carnival Parade for 37 years, winning the Band of the Year 21 times and runner up on 13 occasions. Over the years, his exceptional organizational management, financial, and people skills have propelled him to create some of the most spectacular parade presentations that Toronto has ever seen. Saldenah’s creativity and development of Mas as an art form have significantly contributed to the Toronto Caribbean Carnival which has grown to become one of the largest Carnival celebrations in the world. Saldenah is currently the Carnival Arts Canada representative for the Festival Management Committee.
