Building Black Entrepreneurs Program (BBEP) Nurturing Black Entrepreneurs within our community.


The BBEP Committee is a pivotal part of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, dedicated to fostering and elevating Black entrepreneurship within the community. This committee focuses on creating platforms and opportunities for Black business owners and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services during the carnival. It offers networking and business development resources, as well as arranging workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs to nurture successful entrepreneurs. Through collaboration with established business networks, the BBEP Committee aims to foster a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, encouraging innovation and economic growth in the local Black community, thereby instilling a spirit of economic empowerment and sustainability.


Position Description: The Festival Management Committee is seeking a strategic and dynamic volunteer who will assist in creating platforms and opportunities for Black business owners and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services. Through collaboration you will partake in establishing business networks and foster a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, encouraging innovation and economic growth in the local Black community. As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise, passion, and ideas to help shape the strategic direction and success of our organization and board.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaboration: Work closely with fellow BBEP board members, staff, and volunteers to support and advance the organization's mission and strategic objectives.

  2. Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with its mission and goals.

  3. Policy and Governance: Provide input on policies, bylaws, and governance practices to ensure the organization operates ethically, transparently, and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  4. Fundraising: Assist in identifying and cultivating potential donors, sponsors, and partners, as well as supporting fundraising activities to ensure the financial stability of the organization.

  5. Advocacy and Outreach: Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner to external stakeholders, including attending events, meetings, and networking opportunities.

  6. Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Promote and support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the organization and in its programs and services.


Qualifications:

  • Passion for the mission and values of the Festival Management Committee

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.

  • Willingness to commit time and energy to committee meetings, events, and related activities.
